Arcane Mage PvP Tactics
Heres just a bit about the arcane mage and how to PvP with one. I'll be honest, they are an easy class to learn, and I may agree that they are even a bit "OP". Nonetheless, they are a fun and effective class to play if done right. So here's just some things to remeber when playing them.
Arc. mages really shine against everything except priests. Priests for some reason have a considerable edge in this match up. Other than that, the spells are very basic, and (without trying to state the obvious), these are the spells that you will need to have on your action bars:
-Arcane Barrage (talent)
-Arcane Blast
-Arcane Missles
-Slow (talent)
-Blink
-Mirror Image
-Evocation
-Presence of Mind (talent)
-Ice Block
-Arcane Power
-Mana Shield
-Counterspell
-Polymorph
-Spellsteal
-Buffs (Mage Armor, Ice Armor, Dampen Magic)
-Frost Nova
-Invisibility (used in special circumstances)
-Conjure Mana Gem
-Mana Gem
Best glyphs:
Major
----------
-Glyph of Mirror Image
-Glyph of Blink
-Glyph Of Evocation
Minors up to you
Fighting Warriors, Death Knights, Feral Druids, Enhancement shamans, and Paladins:
Start the fight with a frost nova, then use either Rocket Boots or Blink to get some distance. Throw an Arcane Barrage, then Slow. Pop Presence of Mind and throw an instant Arcane Blast. Next use Mirror Image. Kite while your 'minions' do some damage. Keep Slow active on the target 100% OF THE TIME. When you have distance, nuke them down with Arcane Missles, and the fight should be over. If not, 'rinse and repeat'. . Remember Ice Block should be used if your in trouble/low on health. I play a Dreanei Mage so I LOVE to pop Gift of the Naaru (racial) then get in Ice Block and heal up a ton. Arcane power should be used before you use arcane missles in the nuking process. Evocation (with glyph) is a HUGE lifesaver if you can Slow+Blink and even Frost Nova your target and get to a safe place. Using Mana Shield is not preferred by some, but I find it stupid not to. Just be sure to have some Mana Jems (created by the spell Conjure Mana Gem). Evocation will bail you out anyways.
Fighting All Casters (besides priests [i still cannot beat them])
Begin the fight with Polymorph. While the target is sheeped(polymorphed), spam Spellsteal until all the possible buffs are stolen. Next, throw an Arcane Barrage. Next, cast Counterspell, then Slow to reduce their casting speed by 30%. As with meleers, KEEP SLOW ON THE TARGET 100% OF THE TIME. Then cast Arcane Blast, and throw some Arcane Missles that can be empowered by Arcane Power. Next, mirror image. Presence of Mind, then Arcane Blast. Repeat repeat repeat and you've got yourself a win. Remeber, the same thing about Mana Shield and Evocation, except that Evo is harder to use against casters, just just use your surroundings to LoS. However, Ice Block should be used when your enemy is almost done with casting one if his/her longer-cast-time spells.
As for gearing, your main stats should be Spell Power and Haste Rating.
I cannot give you advice for rogues as they are the 2 classes I cannot beat as an Arcane Mage.
When deciding wether to use Ice Armor or Mage Armor, then answer is simple; Mage Armor when facing a caster, Ice when facing a melee-er.
I hope that these little tips helped some of you out. Remeber, don't be discouraged to try out this class. It's very easy to learn, and darn fun to play!

longstory short, bind one each of the listed spells to a different key on your keyboard then take a deep breath and use your face to mash the shit out of your keyboard, you will win

I thought you were at least mildly annoyed by the fact that I stated that all you need to do as a retri paladin was faceroll, now here you are, stating the same thing about mages.
What does that make you?
